Llywn Onn, Anglesey.

Llanddeusant, North Wales · Masterplan design · Landscape detailing

A landscape masterplan for a renovated farmhouse in Anglesey, shaped to create a sequence of generous external spaces closely aligned with the architecture and setting.

The design establishes structure, movement and atmosphere across a large and varied plot, forming a framework for arrival, entertaining, planting and long views across the land.

Landscape

Arrival, entertaining and long-term structure.

Llywn Onn is set within a large Anglesey plot that includes woodland, open ground and a number of existing site features with strong character. The brief called for a landscape equal to the scale and ambition of the renovated farmhouse.

The masterplan establishes a clear sequence across the site: a new entrance approach, generous dining and seating areas, outdoor cooking, a garden gym, planting structure and spaces for longer views into the surrounding land.

Existing elements were treated as part of the character of the site. The well is retained within the arrival sequence, while the former pigsty wall forms the basis of a more enclosed outdoor space — adding shelter, atmosphere and a sense of continuity with the history of the place.

Closer to the house, the design creates a series of connected outdoor rooms. Picture windows within the architecture allow the landscape to be composed as a sequence of framed views — bringing structure, planting and light into daily life within the house.

Material direction is drawn from the local landscape, the renewed architecture and the character of the interiors, allowing the garden to feel settled and specific to its setting rather than applied as a separate layer.

Completed as a masterplan in March 2026, the project now moves into the detailing stage, with a clear long-term framework already established across the site.
